   Crane Creek

When Chet Johnson arrives at Crane Creek for a day of fly-fishing to escape a failing business and marriage, he never dreams that he will become immersed in a situation involving a corrupt, small town police department and the sale of black market assault weapons. Deciding that he knows too much, Chet is arrested and taken to a compound. While he is being detained at Jesse Colt’s farm compound, Chet’s wife, Lee Anne, contacts Chuck Haney, an acquaintance of Chet’s. Haney, along with Lee Anne and the family, try to uncover the truth surrounding Chet’s mysterious disappearance. FBI Agent, Carla Ulbrich, working undercover in the local Diner in an effort to gather information on Jesse’s operation, has her hands full. Chet’s disappearance and Haney’s involvement have complicated and accelerated Carla’s efforts. Now she must try to save Chet, Chet’s family, and Haney while at the same time, destroying Jesse Colt.

   J.R. Steele

Maynard Steele wanted only the best for his son, J.R. Maynard’s disastrous childhood and the death of his wife led him to hate God. This hatred had changed him, though he couldn’t see it. While J.R. knew his father loved him, he resented the way his dad pushed him to be the best. In addition, his dad would never talk about his mother or grandfather and J.R. was at the age where he desired to know more information than his dad was willing to share. Known as a stellar quarterback, it was J.R.’s turn to wait as the senior quarterback was returning for his final season. This infuriated Maynard as he had never seen his son on the bench. Seth Cutler, however, was an excellent quarterback and as his friendship with J.R. gets stronger, the relationship between J.R. and his dad intensifies. Unlike what Maynard has taught J.R., for Seth, football is not everything in life. J.R., along with his good friends Joe and Manny begin spending more time with Seth and learn a great deal more than they bargain for. Through wins and losses on the field, normal desires of teenagers, and tragedy, lives are changed. Maynard and J.R. have to come to grips with each other and their family situation. J.R., Joe, and Manny fight through their high school years and into college trying to stay on the right path. Seth, with the help of his cousin Andie, help J.R. discover God’s plan and purpose for his life and it is a plan and purpose J.R. or his father would have never dreamed of!

Stories of My Youth; A Collection of Stories and Thoughts for My Children

One day while traveling on business, I began daydreaming of my youth. One memory led to another and I soon realized that my children had limited knowledge of my younger days.  It also occurred to me that my wife, while knowing my life since having met me, had heard only bits and pieces of my younger days.  The idea of putting these stories in book form began to cross my mind.  On Fathers Day 2008, my children gave me a journal as a tool to catalog my past in an effort to find out what experiences made me the father and husband I am today.

Our personas are defined by our experiences and choices in life.  Hopefully, these stories will shed some light for my children on their dad.  Through these experiences, choices, and consequences, I have gained valuable lessons.  I have led a wonderful life and have been blessed immeasurably.  I am one lucky man!
